Each town’s Watermark journey began with a workshop, jointly facilitated by Town Council Officers and our Community team. These sessions brought together a wide range of local groups – from allotment associations and wildlife organisations to Toad Patrol volunteers – to explore issues around water, sustainability and the environment.
The workshops became the catalyst for new conversations, shared priorities and community-led ideas. Each council was encouraged to refine these ideas into at least three projects to deliver over the year.
Each town council can apply for funding of up to £2000 to enable their projects, and more detail will follow on the projects in progress for 2026 as they get underway.
A cohort of towns along the Bristol Frome catchment are also working together with South Gloucestershire Council on a catchment basis to align their projects. A further workshop in June enabled the towns to share case studies and supported networking development.
