Private Leakage Notifications
If we have sent you a Private Leakage Notification, please arrange the repair as soon as possible.
What they are
Private Leakage Notifications are legal documents we send to customers if we find a leak on their private pipework.
We usually issue them for leaks on private supply pipes. This is the pipe that connects your property to our network.
When to repair the leak
You have 28 days from the date of the notice to get the leak repaired.
This time limit helps us minimise water wastage and limit damage to the public water supply.
What to do if the repair is going to take longer
If the repair is going to take a bit longer, please contact us to let us know as soon as possible.
We will get in touch 14 days after we issue the notification to see how you’re getting on.
What will happen if you don’t repair the leak
If you don’t fix the leak within 28 days of our initial notification, we will be back in touch to see if you need more advice.
As a last resort, we may consider enforcement action. We hope it does not come to this, but it could happen if you don’t arrange the repair.
